ST JOHN’S, Antigua, April 22, 2009 – Antigua-based regional airline, LIAT, is looking for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the departure of Mark Darby – the man who held the position for the past three years.
LIAT yesterday announced “the conclusion of the Company’s contractual relationship” with Darby in a brief pres statement that did not indicate whether the decision not to renew Darby’s contract was made by him, the airline, or if it was a mutual decision.
When contacted, Corporate Communications Manager Desmond Brown declined to give more details.
“The Board has put into place management arrangements seeking to incorporate the input of the Company’s senior management and representation from the Board of Directors until such time as arrangements for the appointment of a CEO have been finalised,” the release indicated.
“The Board places on record its appreciation to Mr Darby for his efforts in those areas that have brought value to LIAT over the past three years,” it ended.
Darby joined in July 2006 with 26 years in the airline industry and 15 years as an aviation consultant under his belt.
