Providenciales would be JetBlue’s 64th destination and its 17th destination in the Caribbean. NEW YORK, United States, Thursday September 9, 2010 – It still has to get government operation authority, but JetBlue is preparing to begin flying into Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), the 17th Caribbean country to benefit from the additional airlift.

The company yesterday announced its plans to fly its 150-seater aircraft to the TCI starting early next year.

It will launch a daily service from New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport from February 17th and a seasonal Saturday service – November to April – two days later from Boston Logan International (BOS). Flights are expected to begin going on sale next month.

“JetBlue is proud to continue our successful expansion in the Caribbean with new service to the Turks & Caicos Islands,” said Scott Laurence, JetBlue’s vice president of network planning.

CEO of Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority, John T Smith, said JetBlue has impressed the authority with its success in the region and its service was therefore welcomed.

“We look forward to continuing the development of a mutually beneficial long term relationship,” he said.
